In this Cuisinart GR-1 review you can find out just what makes this machine the top selling sandwich press in America today. You can find the best price Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press at the Amazon website. They typically offer a discount on the price that you can get if you were to order direct from the Cuisinart website so it is definitely worth comparing prices before you commit to your purchase.

Sandwich presses are becoming more and more common in our homes these days. It used to be that if we wanted an authentic panini we would have to go to a specialist cafe or delicatessen but now a days many of us can make them in our own kitchen. This has a number of benefits for us. One is that if we are interested in healthy living, we can ensure that we use only the most nutritious low fat ingredients. Also, by cooking our own food at home, we can save quite a lot of money when we compare what it would have cost us if we chose to get the same sandwich from a cafe. This is one of the reasons that I am so keen on these machines. We can create restaurant quality foods ourselves and save money at the same time.

I would say that the stand out feature of this particular model is a combination of the price and professional quality design. The top plate is not attached with a fixed hinge. This gives the Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press a huge advantage in that the floating hinge design means that the top plate always sits parallel to the lower plate. The result is a toasted sandwich that does not have its filling squeezed out and even grill markings on the top and bottom sections.

The GR-1 does not have a power switch. It automatically turns on when you connect it to the electrical wall socket. This is something to bear in mind regarding its operation. Most of you will be okay but if you have particularly hard to access power outlets then this may be an issue. There is also no temperature control. You might find this a bit worrying but to be honest, it is not something that you will miss a grea deal. It is set so that it will heat up to the perfect temperature for making great toasted sandwiches. When you first plug the machine in, the red power on light will become illuminated. Then once it has been on for a couple of minutes, it will switch over to the green, ready to cook light. This tells you that it is time to put your sandwich into the machine. It just takes a few minutes to make the perfect panini or toasted sandwich, usually between 3 to 5 minutes.

What I like about the Instruction Manual is that it also has a decent recipe booklet as well with quite a few different recipes. Some of my favorites include the English Muffin Breakfast Panini; the classic Mini Tomato, Basil & Mozzarella Panini;  and delicious Grilled Tuna Melts.

This machine is not just a sandwich maker. However, if I am being perfectly honest, this is the only thing that, in my opinion, you should do with it. Allow me to explain. You can actually grill things like sausages and pork chops if you want but would you really then want to toast a sandwich on the same surface? Of course you would clean it in between usages but the one thing that you should be aware of is that the hot plates of the Cuisinart GR-1 are fixed. Therefore they cannot be removed so that we can give them a good wash in some warm soapy water. This is why I think it is best to use it exclusively as a sandwich press.

One other point is that it comes with a limited 3 year warranty. The best place to start if you want to buy a Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press is to compare prices with those you can find on Amazon.
